Project Title
How do Muslim Women Express Their Feminism in a Non-Secular State Like Pakistan?
Description
The study investigates how Muslim women in Pakistan express their feminism in a society where it is considered un-Islamic or Western to do so. It presents personal experiences of women, their encounters with gender injustice and discrimination, and how they resist or fight it. Four female university students were interviewed in-depth, and the primary data collected was analyzed through the lens of transnational feminism, supplemented by secondary data. The study reveals that women's expressions of feminism are restricted by patriarchy, gender roles, and religion, and suggests that a change in women's status requires the true essence of Islam to be preached, which seems unlikely at present.
